Alpha comment: the latest syndicate estimates as at 31st March 2018 include an update on the 2016 year of account and a first market forecast for the 2017 year of account.
The 2016 year of account has improved from a loss of -4.0% to a loss of -3.7% in the last quarter. Syndicates with third party capital are forecasting an average loss of -1.9% and aligned syndicates, being those with no third party capital, are forecasting a midpoint loss of -4.3%. The average Alpha forecast has improved from a profit of +0.7% to a profit of +1.3%.
The first 2017 year of account forecast is a loss of -8.0% for the Lloyd’s market as a whole. Syndicates with third party capital are forecasting an average loss of -9.3% and aligned syndicates are forecasting a midpoint loss of -7.5%. The average Alpha forecast is a loss of -7.4% at this early stage.
