Posted 08/06/2023 – Quick takes

Atrium has announced the appointment of John Fowle as the new prospective Group CEO. John will join from Chaucer, where he is currently Group Chief Executive and Chief Executive of Chaucer Syndicates Limited, the group’s regulated Lloyd’s Managing Agent.

John will take over the Group CEO role from Richard Harries, following Richard’s decision to retire on the 30th June 2023. Richard has agreed to serve as an adviser to the business and shareholders following his retirement as CEO.

John will be joining Atrium once he has fulfilled his notice responsibilities to Chaucer.

In the interim, James Lee, Atrium’s current Group COO and Agency Managing Director, will succeed Richard Harries as acting CEO to ensure that the business has continuity of leadership. James has been an integral part of the Executive Team, working closely with Richard Harries to develop the business over the years. He has been with Atrium since 2002. As part of the changes James Cox (Atrium’s current Compliance Director) has been appointed to Managing Director and James Smith (Atrium’s current Deputy Compliance Officer) has been appointed as Compliance Officer.

Alpha comment

We are sad to see Richard depart such a successful business, of which he has been such an integral part for the last 26 years and we wish him a very happy retirement. John Fowle comes to Atrium with a very strong reputation and we look forward to having a similar excellent working relationship that we have had with Richard in the future.
