S.A. Meacock has announced that following Michael Meacock passing away in February 2023, the Board has agreed that James Meacock and Matthew Bartlett will become joint Active Underwriters with effect from 1 June 2023. With two Active Underwriters there will no longer be a formal Deputy Underwriter. Lloyd’s has confirmed agreement to allow joint active underwriters.
Alec Taylor, Michael’s Deputy for over forty years, will continue to offer his services to the Syndicate as an underwriter and director for the next few years, as part of a planned handover of duties.

Alpha believe this is a very sensible outcome. Matthew has been doing a lot of the day to day underwriting for some considerable time, whilst James continues the family involvement, having joined the board in 2016 and been part of the underwriting team since then. We are pleased that Alec Taylor remains an integral part of the team for the foreseeable future to give further continuity.
