IQUW has announced its result for the 2022 year of account and an updated forecast for the 2023 year of account for syndicate 218.

The 2022 year has closed with a profit of +2.6%. This compares with the previous forecast profit in the range of -1.5% to +3.5%, midpoint +1.0%.
The 2023 forecast has improved to a profit in the range of +0.5% to +10.5%, midpoint +5.5%. The previous forecast profit was in the range of -0.1% to +9.9%, midpoint +4.9%.
Alpha comment
The improvement for the 2022 year of account in the final quarter is due to an improvement in the pure year. The motor insurance market faced significant challenges due to claims inflation after Covid-19, and the strong investment income has enabled the syndicate to declare a profit.
The 2023 year of account is expecting to produce another profit. Once again, the syndicate’s investments are expected to be the key driver of these returns.
